As you may have figured out, I am a big fan of Ipevo technology for the classroom. I have had great luck with the products, having very few issues. What few issues I have had, Ipevo was quick to work out and solve for me.
I have used the Ipevo Interactive Whiteboard for a few years now, and have been incredibly pleased. The one thing I sometimes hear people comment is the size of the pen. Now for me, being an English teacher and a heavy reader, I don’t mind the pen feeling more like a wand, after all, one never knows when they might need to conjure up a patronus.
Now, on to the nitty gritty. There is really no difference in the two pens. I found the short pen to work identically to the longer pen. Granted, the longer pen is really long, so it may not be for everybody. If you are after more of a pen feel than a wand feel, then the shorter pen is for you. I actually use both now. When using the annotation tool, or writing text, etc, I use the short pen. It feels much closer to natural. When I am using the IW2 to control a screen, scrolling through a text, starting and stopping a YouTube video, etc, then it is the long pen.
All in all, I found the pen to be of the usual Ipevo quality, which is great. Ipevo listened to there customer base, and changed up the pen as many requested. To me, this speaks volumes. Next time you are at an EdTech conference, stop by their booth and try it out. It is easy to set up, and easy to use. And for those of you who have not had the chance to use an IW2 because you have a short throw projector, they have taken care of that as well… so spend a little and save a lot… give Ipevo a try.
